Frequently Asked Questions

How to treat an open wound?

After cleansing and disinfecting a wound with warm, clean water and antibacterial soap, use antibiotic ointment to prevent infection. Minor wounds can be closed and dressed in 2 waterproof bandages and gauze, while deeper and more serious wounds may require stitches and staples.

How to treat a burn wound?

Clean superficial first or second-degree burns measuring less than 3 inches with cool (not cold) water and mild soap. Apply antibiotic ointment to the afflicted region and wrap the wound in sterile gauze. Third-degree burns and severe, open burns should be treated by a medical practitioner.

How to treat an infected wound?

To treat a moderate infection in a tiny wound, rinse it with warm water, use antibiotic ointment, and change bandages on a regular basis. More severe wounds and infections, on the other hand, should be treated immediately by a medical expert, especially if there are major indicators of infection, such as fever, discharge, red streaks from the wound, or extreme pain.

What makes wound care so important?

Caring for a wound quickly reduces infections, which can lead to more serious health issues and, in severe cases, death. Many minor wounds may be treated at home, but sudden, acute, and chronic wounds can be extremely painful and difficult to heal by non-medical professionals.

What are the possible therapy options?

Lesion care therapies include basic cleansing and disinfection, treatment dressings, topical and oral antibiotics, compression wraps, debridement (the removal of dead skin around a lesion), and negative wound therapy.

If the wound beyond the burn?

A severe burn may be a catastrophic injury, both literally and mentally. If you have had a serious burn, you may face physical issues such as loss of physical ability, deformity, scarring, or limb loss. However, you may also experience emotional and psychological impairments as a result of severe burns, such as nightmares or flashbacks from the traumatic incident, or you may have lost a friend or family member in the fire.
At Smart Choice Medical Services, we recognize how tough this time may be. That’s why we’ll provide you with the greatest burn team possible, which includes physicians, nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, nutritionists, social workers, respiratory therapists, and more. Together, we can overcome this.
